The ‘Cars 3’ races past the ‘Wonder Woman’ hauling $53.5 million in the Sunday theater event held in US and Canada. The recent weekend event at the box office left people amazed when the third Cars from the Walt Disney Co.’s Pixar roared into the first place beating the Wonder Woman that has dominated the festivals for the past two weekends at the box office theaters.
The Wonder Woman took the second position with an approximate of $40.8 million after a drop in the domestic box office of about 30% in the past week. The film that features a female superwoman as the head has been performing well for the last three weeks and has attained a total of about $275 million in the domestic box office theaters in addition to the international haul of more than $297 million hence making an overall total of $571 million.
The third movie this Sunday was All Eyez On Me the Tupac Shakur biopic that made $27.1 million. The film, however, was criticized on the social media platforms especially on Twitter for its factual errors. The negative reviews made the movie to perform poorly though quite a number of the audiences enjoyed the film’s rendition of the iconic rapper who left the legacy.
The fourth position was taken by The Mummy which was pulled from the second place it held last weekend. The film earned about $13.9 million on Sunday. Although the film continues to perform poorly in the North America, the movie is already earned more than $239 million in the international market by earning a total of $296 million globally.
The 47 Metres Down took the fifth place while the Rough Night was placed in the seventh position. The two films are still new in the box office theater. The Rough Night scored an estimate of $8 million accrued from 3,162 localities. The film opened with less amount compared to the previous female-fronted comedians such as the Snatched which opened with $19 million among others.
The Cars 3 new movie received 64% positive customer reviews with others criticizing its performance but nevertheless, it raced up to the first place.
