Katy Perry Shares The Heartbreaking Reason She Cut Her Hair

In the recent times, Katy Perry has been engaged in promoting her new album Witness, via a live stream on YouTube.  Fans were treated to different forms of entertainment including yoga lessons, Perry’s rehearsals as well as her sleeping.  Many of the viewers however did not expect a raw session with her therapist.

The world renown pop star broke into emotions during a session wither therapist Siri Sat Nam Singh admitting that she has been fighting suicidal thoughts and admired to live a more authentic life.  It is a window into the intriguing lifestyle that the pop star is experiencing.  She also admitted that this is the reason why she had shaved her hair.  “I so badly want to be Katheryn Hudson that I don’t even want to look like Katy Perry anymore sometimes, and that is a little bit of why I cut my hair,” she said

The pop musician rose to fame after singing in church in her childhood days.  She initially pursued her music career in the gospel industry while still a teenager.   She is one of the best-selling musicians of all times, having sold over 100 million records globally.

Perry’s admission proves that metal illness affects everyone regardless of fame and success. Her decision to open up to the entire world about her situation tells a lot about the musician.  It is an explanation of how vulnerable and strong she is and hence an inspiration to many people having a similar situation.

Her biggest admission however came when the therapists asked if she wished she wasn’t on earth anymore.  She admitted having those thoughts which make her feel low and extremely depressed.

According to figures from the World Health Organization, Over 300 million people globally are victims of depression.  The situation can have a lasting impact on the person’s daily life including school, job, and family among others.  In extreme cases, depression can lead one into committing suicide.  A research done by the University of Washington shows that a big percentage of people who commit suicide have diagnosable mental problems.   People who commit suicide are constantly experiencing undertreated, undiagnosed or untreated depression.
